Counterfeit TTC token bust snares 2

Toronto police have arrested two men suspected of being involved in a counterfeit TTC token scam.

Toronto police have arrested two men suspected of being involved in a counterfeit TTC token scam.

Det.-Sgt, John White told CBC News on Friday that police arrested Paul Keim and Vincent Ham of Toronto on Nov. 1, when they tried to pick up a package from China containing about 4,000 fake tokens.

Ham and Keim have been charged with fraud and attempting to bring property obtained by crime into Canada. They also face a number of other fraud-related charges.

Police are not able to say if the fake tokens are the same as those uncovered in a CBC investigation.

That investigation revealed that an estimated 2,000 fake tokens are used on Toronto's transit system every day.
