Volunteer group on a mission to feed Mississauga community
A small group of volunteers says it's on a mission to end hunger in a Mississauga community. For almost a year, the group has been cooking homemade meals for people in need and says it pays for many of the expenses out of pocket.
Compassionate Cuisine says it’s served more than 10,000 meals this year
Elaine Russell says she's determined to eliminate hunger in her community.
The Mississauga resident founded the small volunteer-driven group, Compassionate Cuisine, whose mission is to cook fresh meals for hungry neighbours.
She says her ultimate goal is to ensure no one in Canada goes to bed hungry.
"I owe that to my fellow man, to help them, and make sure they eat," she told CBC Toronto.
