Norm Gardner Norm Gardner began his career in city politics as an alderman in North York’s Willowdale in 1976. He later was a long serving Metro Toronto and Toronto City Councillor, from 1988 to 2000. He served as Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board from 1998 to 2003, but was forced to resign over a scandal involving him taking ammunition from the force for his own use.

Ari Goldkind Goldkind is a criminal lawyer who advocates for tolls on the Gardiner Expressway. He is touting a plan called Vision 2020 to get feedback from Torontonians. He was most recently in the public eye as the counsel for Gordon Stuckless, the man charged with abusing boys at Maple Leaf Gardens for decades.

Matt Mernagh Mernagh is a marijuana activist and local author and journalist. He has campaigned extensively for medical marijuana use.

Sarah Thomson Thomson is publisher of the Women’s Post, a free national magazine. She was considered a frontrunner in the 2010 mayoral race before withdrawing to support George Smitherman, and ran for the provincial Liberals in 2011, narrowly losing the Trinity-Spadina riding to the NDP’s Rosario Marchese. Thomson arrived at City Hall to register her campaign on horse and buggy, highlighting her focus on transit.
