Concert had hit third hour when rock icon noticed family's sign asking for birthday dance

Bruce Springsteen had tens of thousands of fans in the palm of his hand during his Toronto concert Tuesday night, but one lucky grandmother was in The Boss's arms for a few moments during a dance to mark her 89th birthday.

With the concert well into its third hour, Springsteen noticed a family holding up a neon sign, asking if he would dance with their matriarch to mark her big day.

Fittingly, he complied as he and the E Street Band were in the middle of "Dancing in the Dark."

First, he grabbed the sign, held it in front of one of the many cameras capturing the show and, with a big grin on his face, kept pointing to the numbers 8 and 9.

Her family then lifted her on stage, where she got a big hug before their dance to a big cheer from the crowd.
