Provincial transit agency Metrolinx recently released an animation that details the massive excavation and tunnelling effort on a portion of the 19-kilometre Eglinton Crosstown LRT line.
The animation depicts what is involved with the tunnelling of the 10-kilometre central stretch of the line between Keele Street and Laird Avenue.
Buildings above the underground stretch will not be affected by the tunnelling. However, during the later stages of station construction, parts of Eglinton Avenue between Allen Road and Yonge Street will be reduced to two lanes for "an extended period of time."
The line is expected to be in service by 2020.
