Air Canada said an issue with cabin pressure forced the jet to re-route to Halifax on Wednesday.

Embraer 190 jet had cabin pressurization issues, airline says

Air Canada said an issue with cabin pressure forced its Toronto-Deer Lake flight to make an emergency stop in Halifax on Wednesday.

Flight AC682, with 93 people on board, touched down safely at Halifax's Stanfield International airport at around 6:30 p.m. AT, airport officials say.

The Embraer 190 jet left Toronto's Pearson airport around 3:10 p.m. ET and declared an emergency as it made its way east.

Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick said the aircraft "landed normally and safely after it developed a cabin pressurization issue, during which oxygen masks were deployed."

Firzpatrick said it wasn't immediately clear what caused the issue.

Passengers, meanwhile, will be re-booked on a flight to Deer Lake later tonight.

Halifax airport spokesman Peter Spurway said crews are now looking at the aircraft.

"It landed safely, which is fantastic, and now there is an assessment being done of the aircraft," Spurway said.

Halifax emergency crews had been called to the airport as a precaution as the plane made its landing.
