2 Ontario teachers unions set to hold talks

Negotiations between the Ontario government and two key teachers unions are expected to resume today.

Both sides running out of time to avoid a strike before school year resumes

Negotiations between the Ontario government and two teachers unions expected to resume soon.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation, which represents public high school teachers, says negotiations are set for Aug. 18 and 19, right before the union holds its annual leadership meeting in Ottawa.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, which represents Catholic elementary and high school teachers, will hold talks today and tomorrow. The union is in a legal strike position as of Aug 17.

As for public elementary teachers, the union says that no talks have been scheduled.

The contracts for all Ontario teachers expired last August and if they don't sign a deal by September, there could be a strike before classes even begin.
