Toronto police have charged a 16-year-old male in connection to the shootings on Danzig Street that left two dead and 23 wounded.

The teen was arrested Tuesday and charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon.
  • Use of firearm to commit an indictable offence.
  • Threatening death.

He cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Nahom Tsegazab, 19, has already been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection to the Danzig Street violence of July 16. Shaquan "Bam Bam" Mesquito, 18, faces a pair of first-degree murder charges.

The shooting shocked the city and claimed the lives of Shyanne Charles, 14, and 23-year-old Joshua Yasay. Police say both were innocent victims caught in the crossfire and not part of the dispute that caused the shooting.
