Thunder Bay police investigate fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian

Police have confirmed a woman has died following a serious motor vehicle collision in Thunder Bay, Ont., Tuesday night involving a pedestrian.

Collision occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday

Police have confirmed a woman has died following a serious motor vehicle collision in Thunder Bay, Ont., Tuesday night involving a pedestrian.

Emergency services responded to the incident on Memorial Avenue after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the Thunder Bay Police Service said in a news release.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

On Wednesday morning, police issued an update saying the pedestrian had died.

A CBC News reporter observed the area between Surplus Furniture and Mattress Warehouse and Badanai Motors Ltd. on Memorial Avenue blocked off by police around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A section of Memorial Avenue was closed for several hours Tuesday evening, but the roadway has since reopened, said police.

Members of the traffic unit and forensic identification unit are involved in the ongoing investigation.
