Thunder Bay residents will be given the chance to shape the future of the city at a public meeting Tuesday evening.

The city is hosting an open house to unveil city council's priorities and initiatives for the next four years. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Centre at 132 Algoma St S.

Residents are invited to give their opinion on what should be included in the city's strategic plan.

Karen Lewis, who directs corporate strategic services for Thunder Bay, said the plan is about "managing change."

"Some of the key questions are: where are we now, where do we want to get to, how are we going to get there," she said.

A second public meeting will be held on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Da Vinci Centre at 340 Waterloo St. S..

Councillors started setting goals for the current council term last month, coming up with ideas for the city's economy, lifestyle, environment and governance.

In an earlier session in December, councillors shared what they heard from residents during their respective election campaigns.

The results of a statistically valid citizen satisfaction survey, which involved 500 residents 18 years old and up will be presented to council on May 11.

A draft strategic plan will be available for public review from May 26 to June 4 on the city's website, as well as in person at city hall and branches of the public library.
