Thunder Bay hospital parking to expand by 300 spaces
A construction project at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre will bring some relief to visitors who struggle to find a parking spot.
CBC News has learned the hospital will spend more than $1 million to create hundreds of new parking spaces near Golf Links Road.
The director of Capital Planning and Operations said the hospital expanded one parking lot a year and a half ago, but more spots are needed.
"The latest one, which is obviously more visible and noticeable, is the expansion of what we call parking lot B, back to Junot. And that will provide us with approximately 300 additional spaces,” Anne Marie Heron said.
The cost of the project will be covered by parking fees. Heron noted the new parking lot should be ready in the fall.
“Construction has currently begun. We have all of our approvals in place. And, you will see a lot of flurry of activity ongoing there."
