Talks between the City of Thunder Bay and the union representing specialized transit workers are continuing through the weekend, with a new strike deadline set for Wednesday.
The Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 966 had previously set a strike deadline of Monday for its Lift and Specialized Transit operators, but the city announced on the weekend that the deadline was extended.
Nine full-time and 11 part-time operators belong to the union local. Lift and Specialized Transit used to be known as HAGI Transit and provides public transit services to people who use wheelchairs or have other special needs.
