Countdown to Sounds of the Season: You don't want to miss this!

Join us on Friday starting at 6:00 a.m. for Sounds of the Season, with our Superior Morning show host Lisa Laco and the morning team broadcasting live from the Wasaya Airways Hangar.

Join us as we celebrate the holiday season by giving to others in the community

CBC Thunder Bay is inviting the public to drop by on Friday December 4th for the annual Sounds of the Season fundraising event, in support of the Regional Food Distribution Association.

We're gearing up for the holidays here at CBC Thunder Bay by giving back to the community.

Join us on Friday starting at 6:00 a.m. for Sounds of the Season, with our Superior Morning show host Lisa Laco and the morning team broadcasting live from the Wasaya Airways Hangar.

We'll be loading 10,000 lbs (4536 kg) of food onto a Hawker Siddeley 748 to fly to Sandy Lake -- our sleigh for this mission.

We'll also have amazing musical guests, the Honest Heart Collective and a Thunder Bay Symphony String Quartet.

But that's not all, there are many other surprises in the works, including a special visitor in a red suit.

The CBC's Ron Desmoulins and Jody Porter will also make the trip to Sandy Lake to fill us in on it's arrival and what's happening in the community. We'll hear those stories between 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

It's the holiday spirit, CBC-style, here's the breakdown:

Who:

Wasaya Airways has been an enormous help for this project, as has Erb Trucking and the Trucks for Change network. You can read about their contributions here:

We also have a ton of support from our neighbours in the south. Leamington-based Southwestern Ontario Gleaners has donated a huge shipment of soup mix, snacks and fresh produce to our mission. Read about the Gleaners and their contributions here:

How you can get involved:

You can bring your non-perishable food or cash donations Friday morning to the hangar and celebrate the Sounds of the Season with us, or you can drop off them off in advance at our CBC Studios on Miles Street or at the RFDA offices.
