More than 200 anglers across northwestern Ontario — and beyond — have sent in their fish pictures as part of CBC Thunder Bay's annual Show Us Your Fish story and photo contest.
From hardened anglers showing off lake monsters, to newcomers who hauled in their very first fish, we saw some incredible photos of great times on the water as people vied to win one of three rod and reel sets.
Here's a look at our three winning entries
Julie Bouchard
Bouchard sent in this incredible photo of a salmon she pulled out of the lake in the middle of a downpour.
"It was the first day on the boat this year, and it was raining off and on all day," she said. "As I reeled in this salmon, it began to downpour — quite an experience and one I'll never forget."
That's a great photo, and an experience a lot of anglers know all about — fishing doesn't just happen when the weather is nice out.
Josi Gallo
Gallo sent us this picture of her grandson, Christian, catching the first fish of the Victoria Day weekend on Lac des Mille Lacs.
His advice to his family was, "'You have to kiss the first fish you catch so they will keep biting,'" she said. "Cold as it was out on Lac des Mille Lacs, they were biting all weekend!"

A northern Ontario fish tale you need to see to believe

Duration 0:12
Audrey Adam sent in this video as part of CBC Thunder Bay's 'Show Us Your Fish' contest. She said she thought no one would believe the fish would act like this, unless she caught it on video.
You have to see this video entry from Audrey Adam, who caught this unusual activity on camera.
She said she was standing by the water with her son, Kayln, and "all of a sudden, a fish leaped out at us," then it continued jumping out of the water at least another eight times.
Adam said she didn't think anyone would believe her, unless she caught it on video.
