Some school buses cancelled in northwestern Ontario after overnight snowfall

With blowing snow and dangerous conditions, here's the latest information you need about bus service and school closures across northwestern Ontario.

A number of school bus routes in northwestern Ontario have been cancelled Wednesday after a dump of snow overnight in the region. A number of weather advisories also remain in effect in the region, including snow squall warnings in the Greenstone area.

School bus route cancellations

  • All school buses in Dryden, Vermilion Bay, Ear Falls, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Ignace, and Upsala have been cancelled. That's according to the Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium. More information can be found on their website.
  • In the Superior Greenstone District Area, 36 bus routes are cancelled. More information can be found on the Superior Greenstone District School Board website.
  • In Thunder Bay school buses are scheduled to operate. Student Transportation Services said bus delays are possible or some roads may not be serviced due to road conditions. More information can be found on the Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay website.
  • All school related transportation has been cancelled in White River. More information can be found on the Algoma and Huron-Superior Transportation Services website.

  • No school closures have been reported.
