It's one of the most unusual — and one of the priciest — property sales in northwestern Ontario.

More than 1,800 hectares near Terrace Bay are on the market — a parcel that envelops 30 kilometres of shoreline, including frontage on Lake Superior, Hays Lake and the Aguasabon River.

A vice president with Ernst and Young, the receivers for Terrace Bay Pulp, said the property is being marketed online to a variety of potential customers, including international buyers.

Those investors could include those who "want to buy the property and hold it for a period of time [or] … developers that want to build some lots and sever some lots on the various bays," Ray Drost said.

So far, a lot of interest has been shown in the property, he noted. No firm price has been set for the property yet, but it is expected to be in the millions.

"I think there is a very good chance it will be sold," he said.

"We've got interest from various parties … environmental groups … private investors, [and] some public entities that have interests in various parcels as well. So, we have broken [the property] up into 10 distinct parcels, and people can bid on one, or more, or all of it."
