Highway accident kills Orillia man, injures 3
A Marathon, Ont. man who tried to help crash victims on Hwy 17 was hit by another vehicle
One man is dead and three others injured after a vehicle lost control and crashed into another accident scene on Friday evening about 15 kilometres west of Marathon, Ont., on the Trans-Canada Highway.
A 35-year-old man from Orillia, Ont., was killed.
Police said the man was in the first vehicle that lost control rounding a corner, and struck the guard rails at about 7 p.m. on Friday.
The victim and two other occupants in that vehicle survived the crash and were waiting for help — when a second vehicle lost control and drove into them.
A man from Marathon, Ont., who had stopped to help at the scene of the initial accident, received serious head injuries when the second car went off the road and ran into him, police said.
An update on his condition was not available on Sunday.
Two other occupants of the first car were treated at hospital for minor injuries, police added.
