High school teachers cut tentative deal with Thunder Bay board

Thunder Bay's public high school teachers have reached a tentative contract agreement with the Lakehead District Public School Board.

Thunder Bay's public high school teachers have reached a tentative contract agreement with the Lakehead District Public School Board.

As a result, they are suspending their work to rule campaign effective immediately.

OSSTF district 6A president Paul Caccamo said Friday it became easier to reach a deal after school boards in southern Ontario struck agreements several days ago.

Caccamo said the agreement saves the money the school board needs to save. But he said for his membership it's preferable to the agreement reached earlier this year with Ontario's separate school boards and their teachers.

Details will be withheld until the government approves the contract, and it is ratified by the teachers and the Lakehead board.
