Group proposes Thunder Bay addictions research centre
The group that's looking at how the Thunder Bay community can reduce the harms associated with substance abuse has narrowed its focus.
Over the next three years, the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy Implementation Panel will target 21 different actions.
One priority is to seek funding partnerships for setting up a Centre of Excellence for Addiction Studies in the city.
The panel also wants to form a working group to examine overdose prevention and education strategies.
Patricia Hajdu, the city’s drug strategy coordinator, said the group has "worked hard at selecting actions based on collective community wisdom, and which have the highest potential for success."
"This is also very timely right now in light of recent developments concerning opiates in our community," she said.
The list of priority actions is posted on the drug strategy website at www.thunderbaydrugstrategy.ca
