Delaine Copenace: coroner finds no evidence of foul play
Coroner determines cause of death was drowning
The Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto have found no evidence of foul play in the death of Delaine Copenace.
The 16-year-old Kenora teen died from drowning, the coroner determined, following a post mortem examination Wednesday.
Employees of the city of Kenora, Ont., discovered Copenace's remains Tuesday in the Lake of the Woods.
She had been reported missing Feb. 28 after vanishing the previous afternoon in downtown Kenora.
Copenace was the subject of an extensive missing persons search that extended as far as Winnipeg and Fort Frances.
Community groups in Thunder Bay also held a vigil in support of her family.
The OPP North West Region Crime Unit is continuing its investigation.
