CBC Thunder Bay lauded for diversity project
CBC Thunder Bay has won an award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
Common Ground Cafe, a CBC radio and social media project, has been recognized for exploring the issue of diversity.
The CBC's Jody Porter led the project, and accepted the Adrienne Clarkson Award in Toronto last night.
"Thanks to everyone who came out to the initial dinner parties and who continues this challenging, important conversation," Porter wrote on the project's Facebook page.
"I'm grateful for your honesty, courage and willingness to seek common ground."
Common Ground Cafe launched last year as a way to build bridges between the aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities in the city.
The CBC initiative also received a Mayor's Community Safety and Crime Prevention Award for media earlier this year.
