Body found near Chapples Drive deemed a homicide

Thunder Bay Police said the death of a man found Wednesday morning near Chapples Golf Course is the city's eighth homicide of the year.

Thunder Bay Police said the death of a man whose body was found Wednesday morning near Chapples Golf Course is the city's eighth homicide case of the year.

Detectives confirmed that the deceased man was the victim of foul play.

His identity has not yet been verified. A post mortem is scheduled to take place in Thunder Bay tomorrow to determine the cause of death and to identify the victim.

Police said they have no suspects at this point.

Officers were called just after 7:30 this morning by a passerby who had discovered the body near a bike path along the south end of Chapples Drive.

Access to the Chapples Park area has been restricted all day. Police are still holding the scene.
