Drivers on Arthur Street in Thunder Bay can expect another four to six weeks of traffic delays as crews finish up some major work.

Unforseen delays to the job began last fall and work was halted over the winter, said Thunder Bay's director of engineering, Kayla Dixon.

Dixon said city crews started again on May 11.

"We've got about a block and a half of storm main installation to be done and then obviously the re-paving and there is a bit of sidewalk repair work to be done," said Dixon."So that will be done over the next 4-6 weeks."

During the work, Arthur Street will be closed to westbound traffic from Waterloo Street to Ford StreetThe eastbound lanes will be reduced to one lane.

She said traffic on Arthur should be back to normal by July.

Work on Edward Street, which was is included in the job tender, and will start once Arthur Street is finished.
