University of Sudbury to offer French journalism courses in Windsor
School cites lack of French programming in southern Ontario as reason for expansion
The University of Sudbury is bringing French language courses to southern Ontario.
The school will be offering a French language journalism class at Collège Boréal's Windsor campus.
Janelle Lemieux, project administrator at the University of Sudbury, said the goal is to give students a chance to take more classes in French.
"Everyone down south is having a hard time getting access to French university courses," Lemieux said, "in order to meet that need, we did a feasibility study to identify where and what is needed in relation to our programs and what we offer. The result of that study was that the biggest potential existed in Windsor."
Lemieux said that other universities know there is a lack of French programming in southern Ontario, and are also working towards alleviating the shortage.
Students can take the University of Sudbury's French journalism course starting this September.
