Investigators in Sault Ste. Marie are again asking the public for information in a 5-year-old murder case.

Feb. 27 marked a half-decade since the body of 48-year old Todd Alan Petrie was discovered in his Albert Street East apartment in Sault Ste. Marie.

Ontario Provincial Police said a post-mortem examination at the time showed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Police believe that Petrie may have known his attacker, and may have let that person into his apartment.

"We believe someone has the information that will identify the person or persons who carried out this callous act," OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford said in a press release.

In 2012, the provincial government offered a $50,000 reward for information.

That reward remains in place.
