The announcement on the multi-million dollar Sudbury Motorsports Park is expected in the coming weeks yet there is no word on where the funding will come from yet.

Sudbury city council had said the Motorsports Park is a top priority but they have not discussed the issue of funding publically to date.

Coun. Joscelyne Landry-Altmann is preparing to make her case at council.

"This is an economic development investment for the area," Landry-Altmann said. "This is a tourism attraction."

A group of Sudbury racing fans have been working on the project for years.

The complex will include separate tracks for motocross, drag racing and stock cars. It will also have bleacher seats for several thousand and a drive-in movie theatre.

Brigitia Gingras with the Sudbury Motorsports Association said they are currently hammering out a deal for the land and then the job will turn to finding the money to pay for it – the price of which hasn’t yet been estimated.

"It's definitely intense financial commitment needed to build something like this," Gingras said.

The group has said they plan on finding corporate sponsors and will look into the possibility of using tax dollars as well.
