Sudbury's Thomas Caleb Fremlin killed in Hwy 64 single-vehicle crash
The man who died in a single vehicle crash earlier this week in Lavigne has been identified as 30-year-old Sudbury resident Thomas Caleb Fremlin, police report.
The collision happened on Highway 64 in Lavigne early Wednesday morning.
The Province's Special Investigations Unit, which is investigating the matter, said the West Nipissing Police got a call about a Jeep Cherokee being driven by Fremlin. Police saw the vehicle and attempted to follow it, but lost sight of it.
A short time later, police received a call that the Jeep had struck a tree on Highway 64 and was engulfed in flames, killing Fremlin.
The SIU has not released information about why police followed the Jeep.
The SIU is called in to investigate incidents involving police in which a serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault has occured.
