Sudbury’s Lo-Ellen high school celebrates 50 years
Former grads to gather this weekend to mark occasion
Graduates of Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School in Sudbury will meet this weekend to not only see each other, but celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary.
Mary-Anne Walsh, who graduated from the school in the class of 1984-1985, said she feels reunions are still in, despite more people communicating online.
“You can talk to people on Facebook through chat but, you know, to see them face to face [and] to see what is actually happening in their lives I think is really important,” she said.
Walsh describes her experience at Lo-Ellen as ‘awesome.’
“I had a great time at Lo-Ellen,” she said. “I have no bad memories of Lo-Ellen whatsoever.”
Her children are also closely connected to the school as two of them have already graduated from Lo-Ellen, and her third is set to graduate this coming year.
“The kids love Lo-Ellen. They have great memories also,” she said.
“I think it’s the teachers, it’s the overall — when you walk in the door, it’s bright [and] it’s cheery.”
The reunion kicks off this Friday with wine and cheese in the cafeteria.
On Saturday, several events are taking place, including an alumni volleyball game, a basketball game and a school dance.
