Sudbury missing out on infrastructure money from province: Cimino
Sudbury MPP Joe Cimino says the Nickel City is losing out on infrastructure funding because of amalgamation.
Sudbury MPP Joe Cimino says the Nickel City is losing out on infrastructure funding because of amalgamation.
Cimino said Sudbury isn't eligible for money from a recently announced infrastructure fund for smaller communities.
When Sudbury consisted of seven smaller communities, they would have been able to access the funding, he said.
As an amalgamated city, Sudbury has an enormous amount of infrastructure to manage, and a tax base that can't support it. Cimino pointed to the Finland Bridge in Copper Cliff, and the state of Lorne Street, as examples.
Cimino said he is urging the province to find solutions.
