Sudbury man faces charges after fleeing North Bay car crash
A Sudbury man is facing several charges after police in North Bay say he failed to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision.
Police report the man caused a major collision after driving through a stop sign, and struck an oncoming vehicle Wednesday morning.
After the collision, police said the man and his female passenger both jumped out of the car and ran away. The pair was arrested a short time later.
Police searched the abandoned vehicle and found several sets of licence plates, stolen from vehicles in North Bay and Sudbury. Police also found stolen carpentry tools and drugs.
A 19-year-old Sudbury man has been charged with several offences, including possession of property obtained by crime, failing to remain and possession of a controlled substance.
Police said the woman in the vehicle had minor injuries as a result of the collision and has been released from custody unconditionally.
