Downtown Sudbury will be receiving a bit of a makeover in the next few months.

It's part of a new re-branding campaign recently revealed by the Downtown Sudbury Business Improvement Area.

That campaign will see posters, street banners, and billboards hung up around the downtown core that feature the new slogan: Downtown Sudbury, A Place For You.

Maureen Luoma, the executive director of the Business Improvement Area, said the downtown look was in need of a refresh.

"Downtown has been changing a lot over the last couple of years, in terms of the types of businesses and the makeup and the look of it,” she said.

“We thought it fitting and timely that we look at a new brand that is more adaptable to those changes.”

The BIA wants to reach outside the boundaries of the downtown core with its re-branding campaign, Luoma added.

“We hope to get our posters elsewhere and other forms of advertising, whether it's billboards, the electronic billboards that we see on the entrance to the downtown or other locations throughout, whether in our community or elsewhere,” she said.

The rebranding, including design and implementation, cost slightly more than $60,000, and was put together by Bureau, a Sudbury design firm.
