Cinéfest Sudbury is ramping-up to its annual fall film festival  — and organizers promise something for everyone.

"[We have] films that cover the whole world," said Patrick O'Hearn, Managing Director of Cinéfest. "We have a wonderful film from Japan, great films from Germany, some wonderful films from France, and we're still celebrating films that are made in our backyard with Antibirth."

With an eye to the future of the festival, Cinéfest also has a new film category called "GenYZ", which aims to appeal to younger audiences.

"People who maybe have never tried out a festival experience before, [might] realize there is something for them," said O'Hearn.

"Maudie" opens at Cinefest Sudbury on September 17. The romantic drama stars Ethan Hawke, Sally Hawkins and Kari Matchett and is directed by Aisling Walsh. (Maudie theatrical poster)

Also to be screened at the festival: Antibirth, which was shot in Sudbury and stars Natasha Lyonne, Chloë Sevigny, Mark Webber and Meg Tilly. It was produced by Hideaway Pictures based in Sudbury.
