Party leaders descended on Sudbury Friday as byelection candidates wrapped up the first full week of the campaign.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath campaigned with candidate Suzanne Shabonquit as she announced her support for a PET scanner for Sudbury in front of the Northeast Cancer Centre.

Rival candidate for the Liberals, Glenn Thibeault, has also announced he would push for a PET scanner if elected. PC candidate Paula Peroni has scheduled a news conference for Monday afternoon to discuss her position on the PET scanner.

Interim PC leader Jim Wilson also spent Friday in Sudbury with Peroni at the home of a retired couple to highlight an increase in hydro bills. The PCs say paying for subsidies in the Liberal's Green energy act has increased hydro bills by up to $700 a year per household.

Green Party leader Mike Shriener was also in Sudbury Friday, helping candidate David Robinson unveil his economic plan for the city.

Premier Kathleen Wynne paid a visit to Sudbury as well Friday, and fielded questions from reporters about the recordings spurned former Liberal candidate Andrew Olivier released this week of conversations with Liberals when he was asked to support the appointed candidate, Glenn Thibeault.

Wynne maintained there is nothing wrong with the conversations.

"I had wanted to make sure that we worked to keep Andrew Olivier involved and I've said that all along. It's always my perspective that keeping people engaged, keeping people part of the Liberal family is what we want to achieve," she said Friday afternoon.

After initially closing an investigation into what the Liberals offered Olivier, OPP said Friday they are reviewing the recordings released on social media to determine if the investigation should be reopened.
