Stanley Cup, Andrew Desjardins lift spirits at Sudbury's pediatric unit

Hockey's most hallowed hardware cradled some of the most precious little people this week in Sudbury, Ont.

It was Andrew Desjardins's turn to spend time with the Stanley Cup, after the Chicago Blackhawks took their third NHL title in the last six years. So the forward decided to take the coveted trophy to Health Science North's Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), bringing smiles to parents of premature babies, as well as the hospital staff. 

Desjardins, a Sudbury-area native, recently re-signed with Chicago for two years after he was traded to the team this past season. He had a busy week with the Cup — including starting one morning eating Lucky Charms cereal from it.
