SIU investigates Frood Rd. van crash

A 20-year-old man is in hospital with a serious neck injury after a crash on Frood Road early Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old man is in hospital with a serious neck injury after a crash on Frood Road early Sunday morning. 

A spokesperson with the province's Special Investigations Unit reports Sudbury police had reason to follow the man's vehicle on Lasalle Boulevard near Barrydowne close to 5 a.m.

According to the SIU, several minutes later, the orange van crashed into a tree. There is no word yet on the cause of the crash.

A team of seven people from SIU have been working at the scene: four investigators, two forensics specialists and one reconstruction specialist.

The SIU an arm's length agency that investigates incidents involving police where there has been death or serious injury.
