A town hall meeting at the community centre in Lively on Wednesday evening will bring together residents, city staff, and public health officials to address concerns about smelly algae on lakes in the area.

Thick mats of green algae have long been a problem on Simon Lake, and the meeting will also address concerns about nearby Mud lake.

The city councillor for the ward, Michael Vagnini, said city staff will be on hand to answer questions about sewage treatment practices in the area, and what impact they may have on water quality.

Officials from the Sudbury and District Health Unit and the Ministry of Environment will also attend, he said.

The town hall meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Upper Hall of the T.M. Davies Community Centre/Arena at 325 Anderson Drive in Lively.
