Chris Sheridan, founder of Sudbury's House of Kin, to retire
The founder of the House of Kin, Chris Sheridan, is set to retire from his role as chair of the board to spend more time with his grandchildren and wife.
Sheridan provided low-cost accommodations for out of town families tending to loved ones in Sudbury hospitals
The beginning of the House of Kin
After a late-night meeting at Memorial Hospital, Sheridan walked through the lobby and saw people sleeping on couches. In the parking lot he saw more people sleeping in cars. He returned and asked a security guard why people were sleeping outside and in the waiting room.
The guard said 'They're here to look after loved ones, but can't afford to pay for hotels."
That marked the beginning of the House of Kin.
