It seems the drug "shatter" has made another appearance in the northeast. North Bay police say two men have been charged in connection with the seizure of 47 grams of the suspected drug.

Police describe the drug as a concentrated form of marijuana that resembles honey or taffy, also known as "wax", "sap" or "budder."

Because of its potency, and the method by which it's sometimes made, law enforcement agencies and health officials are worried about the drug cropping up around the country

A 23-year-old man from Toronto and a 47-year-old man from North Bay now face an assortment of criminal charges in connection with the investigation — including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking for the older man.

Police said the pair was also found to be in possession of the following:

  • 108.8 grams of suspected cannabis marijuana;
  • 12.3 grams of suspected cannabis resin;
  • $17,000 in Canadian currency

Court dates are set for the end of January.
