Resolute FP fined for 2014 workplace injury in Iroquois Falls, Ont.
A workplace injury, at the now closed-down paper mill in Iroquois Falls, Ont. has left Resolute Forest Products with a $55,000 fine.
It was in October 2014 when an employee suffered hand fractures while working on the winder of a paper machine.
The case was before the courts in Timmins, Ont. on Thursday.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour investigation found the machine did not have the proper guard in place.
Investigators said two other areas on the equipment had pinch points or moving parts, which were also unguarded.
Resolute Forest Products pleaded guilty and was fined $55,000 for the workplace accident.
Second fine for Resolute since January
This is the company's second conviction and fine this year for a workplace injury.
In January, Resolute FP was fined $150,000 after a worker was burned at the company's operations in Fort Frances, Ontario.
That accident also happened in 2014.
The paper mill in Iroquois Falls shut down last year.
