Stay sober on the water, police warn boaters
Greater Sudbury Police officers are cracking down on boaters who crack a beer on the water.
The annual "Operation Dry Water" event is aimed at reducing the number of impaired-related incidents and fatalities on the water.
Officers will be reminding boaters about the dangers of being on the water while intoxicated.
The police service also wants to remind boaters that in Ontario and the rest of Canada, the maximum legal blood alcohol content for fully licensed drivers is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (0.08.)
The rules apply whether your boat runs on a motor or a sail.
The annual event is timed with the August long weekend.
