An inaugural beer festival in Temiskaming Shores has sold out of tickets days before the event is scheduled to run.

The North on Tap Craft Beer Festival is planned for this Saturday at the Haileybury harbourfront pavillion in northeastern Ontario.

Organizer Danielle Belanger-Corbin said she thinks there was demand for this type of summer festival in the Temisikaming region.

There were just 1,000 tickets and they've all been snapped up.

"So I don't know if there's just a niche that needed to be filled or it's just ... July and it's hot out," she said.

"What better thing to do than to sample great craft beers and good food."

The North on Tap Craft Beer festival will include nine brewers, local food, entertainment and even a 5 km beer run.

All proceeds from the event will be distributed to the three area food banks Belanger-Corbin said.

She added that next year they'll plan for a bigger festival.
