A byelection in Sudbury is ramping up, and for one candidate in the race, this will be his eighty-fifth time taking a run at politics.
John Turmel, who is a professional gambler from Brantford, has run and lost in eighty-three elections since 1979. A byelection he was a candidate in in Guelph was cancelled by the call of a general election.
He holds a world record for being a political candidate so many times and his political strategy.
“I don’t knock on doors,” he said.
“That’s a waste of time for a small party candidate.”
Turmel spoke on CBC Radio’s Up North on Friday.
