The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service is not considering the death of Dr. Harinder Kochar as a criminal investigation.

On Sunday, police were called to Kochar's medical office in Lindsay, Ont.

Police said he was found deceased at the scene. A post mortem was done Monday.

Officers would not comment on the cause of death and said they are waiting for the toxicology report from the post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, provincial police said they are continuing to investigate the death of Daphne Kochar — the wife of Kochar.

Her body was found in south of Sudbury in December of 2005.

Police deemed the death a homicide, but never named any suspects.

OPP detective investigator Mike Bickerton said he's not able to comment on the impact the death of Harinder Kochar will have on the investigation into Daphne Kochar's death.

"From the human side, it obviously affects the family," Bickerton said. "We've maintained contact with family members obviously throughout this investigation. So from the human side, there's an effect."

He noted police are continuing to investigate, but said no new information has come forward in the past few years.
