Sudbury's hospital and health unit are teaming up to launch a flu shot campaign over social media.

This year, people who get a flu shot in Sudbury will receive a free t-shirt.

They'll be asked to tweet a selfie to the hospital or health unit using the hashtag #StoptheFlu.

Participants will be automatically entered in a draw to win a healthy prize package.

Lisa Schell of Health Sciences North says the idea is to increase the number of people who get the shot.

“Having the t-shirt with the slogan ‘Got My Shot’ really will get that conversation started,” she said.

“So why exactly did you get your shot, and what is the message in that t-shirt? So, how did you get that t-shirt, or how can I get one?”

Schell says the flu shot provides effective protection against two A strains of influenza and one B strain.

The social media contest runs until Dec. 15.
