From Jeopardy! to Question Period: Alex Trebek on Canadian politics and Sudbury
Famous quiz show host planning visit to the Nickel City in coming weeks
One of Sudbury's most famous native sons is returning to his hometown for a visit shortly, but before he makes the trip to the Nickel City Alex Trebek made a stop in Ottawa.
Trebek attended a different quiz show of sorts: Question Period at the House of Commons.
The host of Jeopardy! used to work in the nation's capital as a CBC journalist.
Trebek spoke to reporters afterwards about his observations.
Trebek was also asked about his plans to visit his hometown, although he did not elaborate on what brings him to Sudbury.
"I will be in Sudbury in the next few weeks. I get to have my picture taken in front of the Big Nickel," he said.
"It has come a long way. They've cleaned up the atmosphere as you all know more than I. It is now a much friendlier place for families in which to develop."
The quiz show host was also in Ottawa Tuesday for the for the inauguration of Alex Trebek Alumni Hall at the University of Ottawa. The hall was named after Trebek following his $2.4 million donation to the school.
