The case against the final engineer to inspect the doomed Algo Centre mall in Elliot Lake has been moved to Superior Court in Sault Ste. Marie.
Up to three weeks of court time had been set aside in Elliot Lake for a preliminary inquiry to determine if there was enough evidence for Wood to stand trial on two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
But on Monday morning the preliminary inquiry was adjourned and the matter was moved directly to Sault Ste. Marie.
Wood inspected the Algo Centre Mall in 2012 — just weeks before the roof-top parking deck crashed down on shoppers in the mall below.
Two people were killed and dozens more were injured.
A public inquiry report into the disaster found Wood's inspection did not catch the dangerous level of corrosion of the mall's steel structure.
Ontario Provincial Police laid the criminal charges against Wood in Jan. 2014.
