Sudbury's Bridge of Nations to add Egyptian flag in latest round of additions

Thanks to the efforts of Sudbury’s Egyptian community, the country will soon be represented on the Bridge of Nations.

Greater Sudbury's Egyptian community has secured its spot on the Bridge of Nations.

Egyptian community members in Greater Sudbury presented a cheque to the city for $1,200, which secure a spot for the Egyptian flag on the Paris Street bridge flag display.

Egypt is the last of six countries and one nation to join the Bridge of Nations. The other countries include Barbados, Burundi, Indonesia, Nepal and Tunisia. The nation is Palestine.

The new country and nation flags will be raised on the Bridge of Nations in an official ceremony June 30.

The 82 flags on the bridge were first hung in 2007 and are changed every three months.
