Developers' plans hinge on flood wall, road improvements
Sudbury city council to debate projects put forth by Dalron, SalDan
Developers in Sudbury will be seeking approval from the city planning committee next week for two controversial subdivisions.
One is a plan by Dalron to build as many as 400 homes off Howey Drive in the Minnow Lake area.
An earlier version of the development was turned down by city council in October. But a revised subdivision plan is now back before the committee for a decision.
City staff will recommend the project proceeds, as long as Dalron abides by 54 conditions — including road improvements.
The proposal will be debated by Sudbury city councillors at an April 16 meeting.
Flour Mill flood wall
At the same meeting, the fate of a hilltop development blamed for flooding in the Flour Mill neighbourhood will be discussed.
The developer, SalDan, wants to add 77 more homes to Sunrise Ridge Estates.
The committee debated the proposal in February, but put off a decision, seeking more information.
Staff now recommends the developer be forced to pay for half of the cost of a proposed flood wall.
