David Treitz still collects pay, 3 years after Sudbury Police resignation
2014 public salary disclosure shows $119,665.44 paid to ex-cop
A former staff sergeant with the Greater Sudbury Police Service made the Sunshine List for 2014 — three years after he resigned from the service.
David Treitz was in the midst of a police tribunal hearing when he resigned in 2011. He was facing 14 counts of misconduct, including allegations of discreditable conduct, corrupt practice and neglect of duty.
But, according to the public sector salary disclosure list, Treitz was paid $119,665.44 by GSPS in 2014.
The president of the police association said he can't talk about the details of the case. But, Randy Buchowski said severance packages are sometimes available to employees who leave the force.
"I'm sure lots of people are wondering and have wondered what the deal was," he said.
"Everybody's just speculating as to how long he will be on [the Sunshine list]."
Sudbury police officials said they can't provide any comment on this story because it's a personnel matter.
The police services board did non return CBC's calls.
As for Treitz, who was a 24-year-veteran of Sudbury's police service, he's now a real estate agent in Barrie.
He said he can't talk about his resignation because he's under a gag order.
