Dani Taillefer is trying to make a career out of what she imagines—but she never imagined she would be picked as the first Artist in Residence of Sudbury community arts group Myths and Mirrors.
Taillefer, a self-described digital artist and illustrator, said she was an artistic "loner kid" who volunteered with the group in high school to create public murals. But, she said she was shocked when Myths and Mirrors asked her to help develop the brand new program.
"It's kind of a big deal", said Taillefer of the opportunity. "I thought I was going in [to the interview] just to be the person that creates this program for an emerging artist ... and then in the interview, they said, 'No, no, no: you're going to be the Artist in Residence!'"
Taillefer will collaborate with Myths and Mirrors to define the Artist in Residence role for the group, but she will also be given more time to work on her personal art endeavours, something she hopes to turn into a career moving forward.
Taillefer spoke with CBC Sudbury Morning North radio show host Markus Schwabe on Tuesday.
